Here at East Lake Pediatrics we feel very strongly that routine vaccines are a critical
part of the preventative health care of your child and is part of your child’s
preventative health program.  Florida state law mandates that immunizations be
completed and current prior to entering school.
Our vaccine schedule is based on the
current recommendations by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices
(ACIP), which is part of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the
Committee on Infectious Diseases of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), and
the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). This schedule has been rigorously
reviewed and has been devised using evidence based medicine to provide children with
the safest and best protection from dangerous and  preventable diseases.  It is
updated regularly and is subject to change based on the recommendations of these
organizations as well as availability of each vaccine.  As a result of that,  parents can
rest assured that there is no need for "alternative schedules" as this  merely prolongs
the risk that infants and children may acquire potentially life-threatening illnesses.
Furthermore, there is no scientific data to support the notion that deferring, delaying,
or dividing recommended vaccines in any way decreases complications or side effects.

Prior to administering any vaccinations, we will review each vaccine and address any
questions or concerns that you may have. An informational sheet on each vaccine will be
provided as well.
